I think outsmart myself sometimes. I’m just gonna send it as-is and hope for the best. If this dealer declines I’ll drive out to the one I bought the truck from. Unfortunately the service manager I knew there recently left so I’m not sure I’d have better luck.

Might be over thinking this but another idea I’m kicking around: I took the 2023 BCM apart, just one screw and some clips. I could very easily put the guts of the 2023 BCM into my 2021 BCM’s housing. So that when I hand them the “new” BCM it’ll have the correct part number for a 2021 but will...

The strategy is to just hope they won't notice and/or won’t ask. lol. My feeling is whatever tech doing the work just won’t dig that deep. Take old one out, put new one in, program. Maybe I should also peel the label off the new BCM so they can’t even check the PN without actually installing...

Made an appointment to get my new BCM programmed Tuesday morning. Also put the old cluster back in temporarily. Trying not to explain a thing to them about what I’m doing and why. And I want to leave them as few opportunities as possible to question anything.

I started seeing that change on the 2022s. I suppose the matte black will hold up better if you use the switches a lot.

The front one will probably be a lot harder, eh?

No but I was planning on it. Probably won’t now. The stock Goodyears are getting loud and I’m already annoyed.

Yeah, I mean it can always be better and deadening mine did improve things. The rear doors were more noticeable actually. They have a good thud now when I close them. Fronts weren’t too bad stock.

I BBQ all year round, built a little outdoor kitchen to do it. That said I prefer my steaks in a pan vs the grill anyway. Get that good sear and practically deep fry it in butter as you baste it. Gets no better!

The doors are deadened reasonably well stock. If you ever do a stereo upgrade you can feed a lot of material in through the speaker hole. Avoids removing the carrier and still makes a big impact.

Me neither now. Have to get a 2023 BCM to get the stupid tiles working on this cluster. And along with that the eventual UC5 swap.

Not plug and play. I am thinking I’ll just tap the bed lights if I do it.

Did you get the 2022+ lighted one? Been thinking of adding that.

That makes more sense. Think that would be a “U” code and it does relate to the powertrain. That temperature data goes from the BCM to the PCM.

That’s wild. Pretty dumb that Ram would set things up that way.

Never saw a B code trigger a check engine light. Imagine failing smog because of a body fault. Some U (communication) codes do but only if they are related to the powertrain.

I am under the impression the CEL is only for powertrain stuff. Over the course of messing with stuff I’ve had other codes in the system (mainly BCM) that didn’t trigger it.

Even with how busy I was today on the stupid truck I was able to smoke a chuck roast at the same time. In broth with onions for shredded French dip style sandwiches.
