Installed the bolt-on Borla black chrome exhaust tips today. Subtle but I like them a lot more than the cheap looking barbecue painted stock ones. Adds a little bling.

I like how you called the stock ones bbq painted. If you want the new ones to stay shiny and nice looking I suggest ceramic coating them. If not they finish will go bad quickly

I used some ceramic wheel coating on them. Should take the heat and hold up just fine. I’ll keep them fairly clean in the winter but I hope the price reflects a durable finish either way.

Have you noticed any change in sound? I have seen a post of FB where the guy swears it has a deeper sound because the stock ones are not 5” i.d. I belive this because on my 2016 I put bigger tips and with out a doubt the sound changed….not saying it was louder but the sound definitely changed.

Guess I’m not alone then. I didn't say anything because it didn’t completely make sense, but I noticed right away the tone had changed. It was 90 degrees when I put them on, and even after everything was up to temp driving around, the exhaust sounded more like it does when the weather (and engine) is cold. Maybe a bit louder, but definitely “different”. Lower and more aggressive.

I don’t have ANC anymore so every little change is perceptible.

A couple other people on the other forum asked for a link to these tips. If they install them maybe I’ll see if they notice the same. I guess not only the diameter is different, but the transition too. And rolled edge vs straight edge. The stock tip is like double walled in some places too.

I was eyeing up the loudmouths but probably not a good idea since I’m already a bit annoyed by the drone when towing…
