Not even close to being cheated... no trees big enough to pull out so we jack-all the truck out, lift and stuff trees under tires then back out ... cause forward is worse
I built my rock rails to be able to support the hilift jack anywhere on it.

Lol. I am not too familiar with winter weather elsewhere living in Phx. We obviously don't get much snow, lol. You like the winters/snow there?
You really make the best of our 3 months of summer weather. I personally love the fall and winter but because I hunt and ski-doo just about when I am sick of the snow and cold we go to Florida or some other warm place for a week so it doesn’t really bother me. But I do t think I would like winter as much if I didn’t love ski-doing so much .

lol here’s one worst stuck ice shack, it was raining for 2 days and then went to -28 for 3 days no chances of getting it out. It came apart and I got the floor with my boat in the spring.

Most of my trucks/Jeep’s have a winch so a few times I would bury my hilift jack and pull off of it.
That's the one I'm interested in, seen some others that require lots of shoveling but it's the winch too that counts. I'm going to purchase a winch on a mount so it can put in the front or rear receiver.

I had a thought. If you want to pull your self backwards and you don’t have 3 hitch points (reverse winching) then a pulley on a pin that slides down out of your bumper. That way you can come off the pulley and under the truck to hook to something behind you.

If mounting a winch in the bumper then ya totally agree, that sounds cool and I have seen a set up where a guy could pull his cable to the back for reverse pull but when stuck in mud up to your frame all that goes out the window. So receiver hitch front and back and some muscles to carry the winch to the receiver of choice is I think the best way.

The problem is , storage. You don’t want to leave it unprotected from the elements each day. Don’t want to leave it at home. Takes up bed space. Even if you cover it and leave it on the front or the back, it add 28” to your length. And the leverage And weight sitting 18” out from the front of the bumper, without doing the front suspension is not gonna be comfortable as a daily. It will nose dive…
Maybe on a pivoting hitch? That will at least pull it closer.

Storage is not an issue for us, we have a safety kit(fire ext, first aid etc) a get unstuck kit, and so on. We bring what we need for what we're doing. All the kits hang out on a wall in the shop... towing, ratchet straps, winter survival kit.. so to have plugs at each end of the truck and us where needed is my thinking. I think Warn has system like that but for smaller trucks or suvs. The issue is the weight of the winch that suits the size of me truck and hauling it around in the mud.

I have installed a 12k warn winch on my Gen 1 Raptor and it was heavy with the cable. Get the rope for sure.

@Trailmaker I have two sets.. Toyo RT 35" and a set of mudders called Crocodiles 35 " too. I have quads and one has rope and the other wire.. love the rope😁

Isn't that opening where the winch is on your raptor for cooling or is that a different model?

How do you like the 12k winch? I'm looking at 15k in size .. truck is 7000lbs I'm still debating a few things yet always looking for new ideas. I just know that a winch is useless without some good equipment to go with it... I know a lot about rigging and that stuff comes at a price when deal with a heavy truck.

The area we live in is muskeg, permafrost and we have more lakes n rivers then you can imagine.. check out northern Manitoba on google earth 🌎 getting stuck means you go backwards not forward.. most times.
