flashdrive not responding

I have a 2016 1500 Tradesman with Uconnect 3.0. page 95 of owners manual has instructions on how to select music from flashdrive. When I push VR button and say (as instructed) Play song: "any song", the voice response from system is "there is no music available on the current media source". This is repeated for all requests...album, artist, song, etc. What am I doing wrong?

What size is your flash drive? Not sure what it is, but there is a size limit.

Thanks for the input......I am not tech smart, however I believe 32gb is the answer to size.

Make sure you format it as FAT32, pre 2018 they wouldn't read NTFS from my understanding. I have had a 32gb stick in my console for years and have never had an issue with it. FAT 32 of course

Uconnect is another factor in this. I had a 2016 and never was able to get it to play music by using the VR button. It played the music fine by browsing the drive though.

Exactly my issue....stick will only play in order or shuffle

Wonder what the deal is. My 2016 will play off my thumb drive using VR no problem. Did you try and swap ports to see if there was any difference?

Only have 1 USB port that I know of...located in center console next to AUX port and 12v plug.

Isn't there a second one on the dash? I don't have any experience with uconnect 3.0 though so maybe not
