I almost forgot.. I purchased a new used gun back in April just before the Canadian laws changed again. It's a Remington model 760 .270 win. So far have only had a bit of target time with it but wow I love it. Just realized have no pic of it but do have some pics of the open pit where we where target shooting. Also a great time for my boys to shoot their great grandfather's 1943 Coey .22 single shoot bolt long barrel. My middle son has nothing but high praise for that gun and it shows he's a real crack shoot with it.

Finally! Success on the gun safe buy. The safe company I and another guy hired to remove our safes from a basement turned out not to have the equipment we imagined they would have. Instead, they brought five guys with a pallet jack and a bunch of steel plates to roll the pallet jack on. Ultimately, it took the five guys, me, the other safe buyer, and the guy selling the safes to man-handle two giant safes out of the basement and up the hill over roots to the road. But eventually and a torn shirt later, we got her done.

The safe is dark blue, but looks black in the photos. And it is exactly what I wanted. Total cost including the "safe moving service" was $2,157 USD.

Time for an upgrade for the wife. It's all the little cutesy things that say "I love you" the most. The electronic lock is much faster to open. Helps her draw speed. Plus, I snuck up on a deal on eBay. Maybe she will let me "lock'er down" to show her gratitude. :sneaky:

Picked up a long slide kit for my VP9. Still waiting on the optics plate. One of my favorite pistols just got better though.

Finally, I got my .308 sited in today. Now my sweetie can make a tight group from almost any distance. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. ;)

PS: That's not a real suppressor. It's a solid piece of aluminum that serves as a barrel counterweight.

I can only dream though.. the only way I can own a hand gun is if I become a guide and take people hunting fishing etc.. or prove in some way that a hand gun is a necessity for survival.

I finally finished my lightweight rifle build. Upper is from Bear Creek Arsenal. It has a 16" stainless barrel with an M4 profile to save weight. I remeasured the barrel myself without the flash hider and with the bolt in place to make sure it was legally 16" and compliant with Federal standards for a non-tax stamp build. There is both a right side charging handle and a standard top charging handle. Carbine gas system and buffer. No forward assist or dust cover on the upper. Lower receiver is Aero Precision. I love their stuff. Lightweight MEYBO stock. Magpul Industries MOE grip. Stainless steel hammer and trigger from Anderson Manufacturing. Optics are just iron sights. These are flip up Feyachi S27 fiber optic iron sights that I got off Amazon.

The barrel came with a kind of blingy stainless steel flash hider. The last step to this build was to replace the blingy flash hider with a mil-spec M16A2 flash hider that also sort of works as a compensator. Using the mil-spec flash hider also allows the standard plastic muzzle caps to fit better. I like using these so dust, dirt and debris don't get into the barrel during storage, transport and while traipsing through the woods. You can see the original flash hider and plastic muzzle cap in front of the vise.

Also, here's a clear photo of my vise setup so I can build and do maintenance at my desk in my office. It's just a 30" long 2"x12" board with a 1950s Scout brand vise that I refinished in gun bluing years ago.
